Material range for the MakerBot Method X is expanded with ASA
MakerBot has recently announced a new material for the MakerBot Method X; MakerBot ASA Precision Material. This expands MakerBot’s range of materials for the Method X ahead of its release.
ASA (acrylonitrile styrene acrylate) is a well-known material among professional 3D printing users, which is mainly used for outdoor applications. For example, it can be used for outdoor switch box covers, garden tools or automotive components.
ASA the weather-resistant alternative to ABS
MakerBot Precision ASA is a weather-resistant alternative to ABS. ASA is often used for functional prototypes and end-use parts in demanding outdoor environments. This thermoplastic has similar properties to the real ABS from MakerBot. However, ASA also has better UV, long-term heat and chemical resistance. As a result, the material retains its gloss, color and mechanical properties even when continuously exposed to the elements.
MakerBot ASA filament with SR-30 support material for the MakerBot Method X.
The Stratasys® SR-30 support material for the MakerBot Method X is used as support material for the MakerBot ASA. This gives you unlimited geometric freedom. This makes MakerBot ASA suitable for complex geometries and demanding applications in the automotive, energy and utilities, agriculture, oil & gas and mass transit industries.
