The Raise3D E2CF is an IDEX 3D printer that is optimized for the 3D printing of fibre-reinforced filaments. This desktop 3D printer is ideal for functional prototyping on the one hand and for the production of functional components on the other.

The Raise3D E2CF was originally designed for the Raise3D PA 12CF and its support material. It can now be used to process a wide range of fiber-reinforced materials. The carbon fiber reinforced filament Raise3D PA 12 CF has a low density, high strength and is resistant to corrosion, static electricity and high temperatures. It can be used for a wide range of applications in various industries. This is because the material has an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. The Raise3D E2CF delivers precise printing results and is user-friendly, stable and wear-resistant in operation.

Features of the Raise3D E2CF

Durable print head nozzles

The new silicon carbide nozzles are characterized by excellent wear resistance and thermal conductivity. The silicon carbide reduces the abrasion caused by the fiber composite filament on the nozzle and makes the nozzle more durable.

Dual direct drive extrusion system

The gears, made of high-strength steel, have been heat-treated for improved wear resistance.

To ensure that the filament does not slip during extrusion, Raise3D has developed a special tooth profile that holds the filament firmly in place. The force of the extruder has been increased through the use of a gearbox. This ensures the stability and reliability of printing demanding materials.

The Raise3D E2CF Carbon Fiber 3D printer is designed to process Raise3D’s industrial PA12 CF filament and its support material. In the future, other fiber-reinforced filaments will be available for the E2CF 3D printer. These include materials such as the Raise3D PPA CF, PET CF, PPS CF (with a printing temperature between 280-300ºC). In addition, third-party filaments certified by the Raise3D Open Filament Program can also be used. The OFP materials include BASF materials and some Treed materials.

*The Raise3D E2CF only supports approved filaments and print profiles. The latest list of materials and profiles can be found in the ideaMaker software.

The Raise3D Industrial PA12 CF filament is reinforced with short carbon fibers. It has excellent rigidity, strength and heat resistance. In addition, it has little tendency to warp and has low water absorption. Meanwhile, the material impresses with an outstanding strength-to-weight ratio. Raise3D Industruial PA12 CF can be tempered, which further improves its mechanical properties and subsequently gives the components greater dimensional stability. This makes it suitable for the production of certain lightweight components as a replacement for metal components.

Raise3D Industrial PA12 CF Support Filament

The Raise3D Industrial PA12 CF support filament is a breakaway support material (breakaway support filament). This support material is designed for use in combination with fiber-reinforced composite filaments. It provides a stable support structure and good adhesion to the printed surfaces during the 3D printing process. It also counteracts any tendency to warp. This significantly improves the surface quality of overhangs and drill holes. Finally, the support structure can be easily removed from the printed product or broken off after printing. In contrast to water-soluble support material, it is more cost-effective. In addition, this support material is compatible with a wide range of high-performance fiber-reinforced filaments.

Raise3D Filament Dry Box

The Raise3D E2CF is supplied with two Raise3D filament boxes. These boxes protect the material from dirt and humidity. According to Raise3D, the closed boxes effectively protect the material for up to 30 days.  

Suspension trays for the filament spools are built into the box. These are used to position the filament and enable more even material dispensing.

Like the other Raise3D FFF 3D printers, the E2CF also works with the ideaMaker slicing software. This enables simple data preparation for the 3D printer – for individual prototypes or very small series.

The Raise3D engineers have developed special slicing profiles for the Raise3D E2CF depending on the material. These have been intensively tested and can be easily selected in ideaMaker. This means you do not have to adjust the parameters before printing. Instead, you can get started straight away and enjoy simple, high-quality 3D printing.

What is IDEX? What can IDEX be used for?

The Raise3D E2CF is an IDEX 3D printer. The Independent Dual Extruder System allows the extruders to work independently of each other along the same axis during printing. This allows the printer to perform advanced functions.

On the one hand, this minimizes the risk of the nozzle of the fixed extruder interfering with the print job during dual or single extrusion printing. On the other hand, a mirroring or doubling mode can be carried out with this extruder system. This saves the time needed to create the inverse model or doubles the production capacity in the same time frame.

What are the mirroring and duplication modes?

Two special functions can be performed with the IDEX extruder system: Mirror mode and duplication mode.

The mirroring mode prints a model and its inversion (mirroring) at the same time. This eliminates the need to create an additional file for the inverse model. It also saves the extra time normally spent on printing the inverse model separately.

Duplicate mode is a synchronized print. This means that it uses both extruders to print two identical models at the same time. This doubles the production capacity in the same time frame.

What additional functions does the Raise3D E2CF have?

Another practical feature of the Raise3D E2CF is the easily replaceable print heads. The print heads are easily removable so that one print head can be replaced with another in a matter of minutes. It may be necessary to replace print heads for various reasons. On the one hand, to work with a different nozzle or material or to carry out maintenance work on the extruder.

Replacement Easy-Swap print heads can be easily prepared with hardened nozzles and nozzles in different sizes (0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 mm). This means they can be used quickly if required and the machine is immediately ready for the next print job.

Automatic build plate leveling ensures that the distance between the print nozzles and the print bed remains constant. This improves the adhesion of the components to the print bed and enables high-quality first layers and clean angles.

Power failure recovery

A print job could be interrupted or even lost due to both a power failure and a filament failure (if the filament runs out) – even in the middle of the printing process. This is why the Raise3D E2CF has a filament run-out sensor on the extruders, which recognizes and issues a warning when the filament runs out. This means that the print job is interrupted for material loading. However, the current status is saved and the print job can then be continued. The FFF 3D printer E2CF is also equipped with a power failure function. This saves the print status in the event of a power failure. In this way, the printing process can be continued at the same point as soon as the power supply is restored.

Automatic detection of door opening

The Raise3D E2CF offers another safety feature: automatic detection when a door is opened. If the door is opened during the printing process, the printer immediately interrupts the process. As soon as the door is closed again, printing can continue.
