Formlabs new, advanced SLA technology: LFS™
The new Form 3+ 3D printer from Formlabs uses low-force stereolithography (LFS) technology. Formlabs has further developed the SLA technology. A new flexible synthetic resin tank reduces the forces involved in detaching the components during the printing process (peeling process).

LFS™ – Low Force Stereolithography
To further improve the print quality and reliability of the Formlabs Form 2, Low Force Stereolithography (LFS)™ was developed. This new technology from Formlabs, which has been incorporated into the Formlabs Form 3+, uses a flexible tank and linear illumination to achieve this.
Pinpoint precision
The Light Processing Unit (LPU), specially designed for the Form 3+, consists of a complex array of lenses and mirrors. This enables high-precision, repeatable print products.
Sharp laser beam
In order to obtain a sharp laser beam, the laser is directed through a spatial filter.
Reliable printing process
In order to achieve uniform quality across the entire build platform, a parabolic mirror was installed to ensure that the laser beam hits the build platform or print product vertically.
Increased printing speed
The high-frequency galvanometer built into the Formlabs Form 3+ enables maximum precision at increased speed.
Printing without interruption
The Formlabs Form 3+ controls the printing process without interruption. This allows you to concentrate on your core business. The built-in sensors ensure perfect conditions during the printing process. You are also informed about the status of your device.
Closed-loop calibration
Optical sensors constantly monitor and correct the printing process and can even detect dust.
Simple material management
Thanks to the cartridge system, you can easily switch between different print materials in just a few minutes.
Interchangeable components
Various elements of the printer such as the light process unit, the resin tank and the optics window can be replaced. You can carry out the replacement yourself, eliminating the downtime for repair shipments.

Print preparation
Create your 3D model in CAD software and export it as an STL or OBJ file. You can then open it in the Formlabs PreForm software and prepare it for printing at the click of a mouse.
You can send your print jobs to the Formlabs Form 3+ printer via WLAN. The touchscreen on the printer also gives you access to previous print jobs and you can manage upcoming print jobs.
Post-processing
The optimized support is easier to remove from the printed object. In addition, the post-processing process can be automated with the Form Wash and Form Cure.
Formlabs Form 3+ materials
The Formlabs material library includes around 20 different materials. Thanks to the compatible cartridge system (resin cartridges), you can easily switch between standard resins and special synthetic resins.
