The cleaning agent is both user-friendly and environmentally friendly. No personal protective equipment is required to handle the detergent and disposal of the used solution only requires dilution with clean water to comply with generally accepted global disposal standards*.
Water temperatures between 70°C and 75°C are most effective for dissolving support materials. Temperatures above 75°C can lead to deformation of the models. Dissolving times at temperatures below 70°C take longer.
To optimize removal of support materials and achieve generally acceptable pH levels for wastewater disposal, the following amount (number of packets) of Ecoworks should be used: One packet (foil pouch) per 2 gallons (7.5 liters) of water. With this ratio of Ecoworks to water, the pH of the clean solution will be approximately 9.8.
How often you change the solution depends on how large your tank is, how you maintain it and how complex your parts are. As the support materials are dissolved over time, the pH value decreases and the solution time increases. For optimum effectiveness, the solution should be changed after approx. 0.68 kg of dissolved support material.
Disposal of the solution: Waste water profiles are available for each of the three soluble carrier materials – SR-10 (P400-SR), SR-20 and SR-30. These profiles are based on diluting the used solution with an equal amount of fresh water. For example, if you dispose of 15 liters of used solution, dilute it with 15 liters of fresh water.
*Check your local, state and/or international regulations to determine what pH level is acceptable for disposal. Stratasys recommends that disposal procedures be reviewed by the appropriate authorities in your area. Stratasys cannot anticipate local, state or international regulatory laws. Stratasys cannot be held liable if the solution is not handled and disposed of properly. You may be required to document how you dispose of the used solution.
