Chip.de compared and tested 16 different “desktop” 3D printers. Including the 10 best-selling 3D printers on Amazon.

The printers were tested several times and assessed on the basis of 40 criteria. These were then summarized into the criteria of print quality, ergonomics, equipment, costs and documentation. This showed that not everything that is a bestseller for the online giant is actually a good buy. That’s why chip.de rated Amazon’s offer with arrow symbols based on their comparison tests. The MakerBot Replicator took a good 3rd place in the comparative test. The print quality, ergonomics and features in particular were rated above average.

The MakerBot ecosystem was not included in the comparison because other manufacturers do not have anything comparable.
