3D-EDU presents the MakerBot Method – for the first time in Switzerland

MakerBot Method Switzerland Suisse

As a MakerBot Authorized Service Partner and Authorized Reseller Professional in Switzerland, 3D-EDU GmbH has the exclusive right to present the first MakerBot Method in Switzerland. We received our demonstration device a few days ago and tested it straight away – but more on that later…

You can now take a first look at the MakerBot Method in our showroom in Zurich. You can also request an individual sample print from us.

The MakerBot Method delivers what it promises

After a few years in the business, we have become somewhat critical when it comes to new devices. That’s why we were excited when we received our demo machine. Unpacking it was very easy. Which is more than could be said for placing the machine on our base: The MakerBot Method is quite heavy at around 30 kg. So it took two of us to lift it onto the plinth in the showroom.

Afterwards, as usual with MakerBot, it continued to run smoothly. Once the machine was connected to the power supply, a setup program guided us conveniently through the installation process. Everything runs via the large 5” full color capacitive touch screen, which is extremely pleasant to use. The extruders are placed in the appropriate holder with clear instructions and illustrations. These are then calibrated automatically. The build plate is also measured and aligned.

Here you can already see that this is no longer a “hobby device”, but a professional FDM 3D printer to be taken seriously.

The MakerBot Method material is supplied in sturdy, airtight and resealable zip bags. Once unpacked and placed in the filament shaft, the filament is automatically drawn in and transported to the extruder. There it is captured and extruded without any additional work.

Finally, a first print is created to check whether the setup process was successful.

Successful commissioning

The test piece was tatelless and the auto-calibration worked perfectly. Including the firmware update, the setup took around 30 minutes. We were very pleasantly surprised at how easily and smoothly this was carried out. User-friendliness has always been a top priority at MakerBot. But with the setup of the MakerBot Method they have outdone themselves – really great!

We then started the first test prints for interested parties. These also worked perfectly. The preparation runs via the MakerBot Print software and is correspondingly simple. The extruders heat up extremely quickly and the print results are impressively precise for an FDM 3D printer.

All in all, this is a successful device for professional or demanding users who appreciate the quality and service of a renowned manufacturer. The MakerBot Method is a device for people who prefer to print more than spend time with the printer itself.
