Formlabs Tough 2000 Resin is the strongest and stiffest of Formlabs functional resins. Choose Tough 2000 Resin when prototyping rigid parts that should not deform easily. It is suitable for brackets and fixtures that flex minimally and for simulating ABS.
Tough 2000 Resin V2 is a new material formulation which, thanks to the technology of the Form 4 printer series, offers 3 times higher breaking strength as well as improved temperature resistance, durability and appearance than the previous version. Tough 2000 V2 and Tough 2000 V1.1 have different formulations and print settings – for optimum performance the two materials should not be mixed.
How to switch from Tough 2000 V1.1 to Tough 2000 V2?
- Print all your existing Tough 2000 V1.1 material.
- Clean your resin container (it does not need to be cleaned with IPA. It is sufficient to scrape out the existing resin with a plastic scraper).
- Start a print with a Tough 2000 V2 cartridge and select the Tough 2000 V2 settings in PreForm.
- The printer recognizes that the tank does not fit and asks if you want to reprogram the tank.
Confirm on the printer’s user interface and the Tough 2000 V1.1 tank will be reprogrammed to Tough 2000 V2.

Tough 2000 Resin is a strong and rigid material. Tough 2000 Resin is suitable for prototyping strong and robust parts that should not bend easily.
It can be used for the following applications:
- Strong and rigid prototypes
- Devices that require minimal deflection
- To simulate the strength and stiffness of ABS
The number “2000” in the name stands for the tensile modulus of the material. If you need a softer material, try Tough 1500 Resin or Tough 1000 Resin.
Tough 2000 Resin is the reformulation of the former Formlabs Tough Resin. Tough 2000 Resin offers improved mechanical properties and a new look.
