With the “ThinkFun Maker Studio Cnstruction Sets”, children can transform household objects into racing cars, motorcycles and the like. The sets contain project suggestions – but there are no limits to the ideas.
The ThinkFun sets are technology construction kits with modular building blocks. Depending on the application, they are comparable with very simple Lego technology or, thanks to the recycling approach, with the “Explore it!” learning material can be compared and combined.
ThinkFun normally sells its construction kits online. This time, however, the three “Maker Studio Construction Sets are available for free for 3D printing via MakerBot Thingiverse. Anyone with a 3D printer can download the files for the gear, winch and propeller set (incl. connectors, hubcap & hole tool) & print or make them; at home or at school – to explore simple nature & technology phenomena yourself.
ThinkFun also sponsors a “Kids Make It” competition with the opportunity to win ThinkFun & MakerBot prizes and the title of “Master Maker”. To enter, simply send a picture of an object you made with Maker Studio to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #KidsMakeIt. The contest will run until July 14, 2015 and the winners will be announced via the MakerBot blog.
