MakerBot Desktop Software version 3.4.1 has been available for a few days now.
As always, this means an improvement in print quality and prevents potential problems.
Step 1 Download MakerBot Desktop 3.4.1
If you have not already done so, do it now.
You can download version 3.4.1 from the following link:
https://dedune53.myhostpoint.ch/produkte/makerbot-apps/makerbot-desktop/
The new version 3.4.1 can now be installed on the Mac OS and Windows operating systems.
Step 2 Update the MakerBot firmware
Open MakerBot Desktop 3.4.1, connect your MakerBot Replicator 3D printer via Wi-Fi, Ethernet or USB. Go to the Devices menu in MakerBot Desktop and click Update Firmware to download the MakerBot firmware 1.5 to your 3D printer.
Important: Update MakerBot Desktop and MakerBot Firmware! This is the only way to activate all improvements. Now you can use MakerBot Desktop as before to prepare your print files. When you print your files via USB port, internal storage, or your library, your printer will reprocess them to save the latest and greatest version.
Improvements in print quality and reliability
In addition to further improvements in the tuning of the stepper motors, speed and acceleration, the distance of the retractable outlet nozzle of the Smart Extruder during printing has been reduced to improve its reliability and prevent clogging.
With these improvements, you will achieve a further increase in print quality and a reduction in printing time.
Advanced Calibration
A new calibration tool, which can be found under Devices -> Device Preferences -> z-axis offset, is designed to solve calibration problems. Use this tool if you have problems with the quality of the “raft” and the first print layers or if you hear “clicking” noises during printing.
The errors in the first version of 3.4 should now be fixed.
