Fiber-reinforced 3D printing: lightweight and powerful
The RMF500 FFF large-format 3D printer specializes in printing complex workpieces with an excellent strength-to-weight ratio in a single job. Fiber-reinforced thermoplastics are used for this purpose. Raise3D guarantees the quality of each individual filament spool and is continuously expanding the material selection.
Further details
Raise3D’s Open Filament Program (OFP) continuously works with filament manufacturers to identify and select high-performance filaments for Raise3D printers. The OFP has now entered phase 2.0; Raise3D certifies industrial grade filaments with specific mechanical properties and guaranteed improved performance.
The RMF500 composite 3D printer is equipped with four large multi-purpose filament cassettes. Each cassette has a maximum load capacity of 2.5 kg. This means that even very large components can be produced. When a spool is empty, the machine automatically switches to the full spool. In addition, the filament cassette has an overpressure humidity control, which enables a relative humidity of less than 5 %.
The Raise3D RMF500 large format FFF 3D printer uses silicon carbide nozzles with a hardness of over 60 HRC. This makes the nozzles resistant to abrasion from carbon and glass fiber materials.
Every fiber-reinforced filament from Raise3D is developed with a suitable support material. For example, the breakaway support filament for PA12 CF can be used. It can be easily removed by hand. This results in clean surfaces even with shallow angles or overhangs.
Productivity and reproducibility
Thanks to the Raise3D RMF500’s FFF technology, this 3D printer offers repeatable positioning accuracy, smooth extrusion flow, high printing speed and large build volume. This allows the RMF500 to produce large batches or large workpieces highly efficiently.
Further details
The Raise3D RMF500 uses a linear motor-driven system with a 1μm synchronized control loop that outperforms conventional systems with belts, pulleys and lead screws. This linear motor system gives the RMF500 an acceleration of 2 G and a speed of over 1000 mm/s.
The build volume of the RMF500 is 500 x 500 x 500 mm, for printing with either one or two extruders. Its vacuum build platform is equipped with a PEI build plate with pressure detection, which enables a smooth start and easy removal of the prints.
The Raise3D RMF500 has an independent extrusion system (IDEX). The extruders are made of high-temperature alloys and industrial ceramic composites. Each extruder has a heating capacity of up to 300 W and ensures a stable and high extrusion rate of up to 500 g/h.
The RMF500 has an all-steel frame, which gives it high stability and performance. The low-backlash linear guides are made of high-quality hardened steel. The Z-axis has a maximum load limit of over 100 kg and thus a 50 % lower error deviation.
Outstanding cost efficiency
The Raise3D RMF500 was developed to achieve maximum cost efficiency in terms of material performance compared to process costs. The effective application of material science led to an optimization of the system design with significantly lower energy consumption.
Further details
By reinforcing thermoplastics with fibers, Raise3D’s materials science team produces composite filaments with significantly improved thermal and mechanical properties. Fiber-reinforced filaments are easy to print and require an environment that does not need to be as hot as other printing materials.
Without a heated chamber, the peak power consumption is less than 3 kW. This means that the average power consumption per print is 60 % lower than that of the competition.
Raise3D’s fiber-reinforced filaments are competitively priced and make additive manufacturing with fiber-reinforced thermoplastics more accessible.
