Smart Extruder + test by 3dstarpoint.com | What is special about the new Smart Extruder+?

3dstarpoint.com has subjected the new MakerBot Smart Extruder+ to rigorous testing and comes to the following conclusion in its latest review:

The Smart Extruder+ has much more to offer than just a prettier housing, it comes with many optimizations that increase the performance of this critical component in 3D printing. So far, I have not experienced one filament jam and I find that I have much less downtime with my 3D printer. MakerBot states that the new Smart Extruder+ should last well over 1000 hours of print time and that test units in their labs have exceeded 1700 hours and ran well even beyond that. Based on past experience with the old Smart Extruder and my limited experience with the Smart Extruder+, I have no reason to doubt these numbers so far. I assume MakerBot has also made improvements to the circuitry and driver software. However, I’m not going to take it apart any more and try to analyze the chips used – I’m really good, but that’s too technical for me. Well done, MakerBot!
