Formlabs Form 4 Tough 1500 Resin V2 5L cartridge
Tough 1500 Resin V2 is Formlabs’ toughest resin. It is a resilient material with similar strength, stiffness and toughness to polypropylene (PP), offering excellent fracture and impact resistance. Create parts with a balance of stiffness and ductility, whether for compliant mechanisms or robust housings with self-tapping screws or snap-fit connections. Tough 1500 Resin V2 opens up a wide range of applications, from functional prototypes to end-use brackets and fixtures.
Available for Form 4, Form 4B and Form 4L when used with the Formlabs Resin Pumping System.
Tough 1500 Resin V2 is a new material formulation that offers 10 times higher fracture toughness than the previous version on the Form 4 series. Tough 1500 V1.1 and V2 have different formulations and pressure settings – for optimum performance the two materials should not be mixed.
How to switch from Tough 1500 V1.1 to V2?
- Print all your existing Tough 1500 V1.1 material.
- Clean your resin container (it does not need to be cleaned with IPA. It is sufficient to scrape out the existing resin with a plastic scraper).
- Start a print with a Tough 1500 V2 cartridge and select the Tough 1500 V2 settings in PreForm.
- The printer recognizes that the tank does not fit and asks if you want to reprogram the tank.
Confirm on the printer’s user interface and the Tough 1500 V1.1 tank will be reprogrammed to Tough 1500 V2.

Tough 1500 Resin is suitable for prototyping stiff but flexible parts that can be bent and spring back quickly.
It can be used for the following applications:
- Prototypes that are repeatedly bent and need to get back into shape quickly
- Devices that are repeatedly bent
- To simulate the strength and stiffness of polypropylene (PP)
The number “1500” in the name stands for the tensile modulus of the material. If you need a harder material, try Tough 2000 Resin.
Available for Form 4, Form 4B and Form 4L when used with the Formlabs Resin Pumping System.
